What this pilot does
Operational Model v2.0 is Draft and unvalidated. Modules, variables, rules and outputs are specified; weights, thresholds and response functions are deliberately unset until expert review, dataset integration and field calibration are complete. It must not be used for management prescriptions.
The pilot carries demonstration spatial inputs, user-entered stand inventory, management history and evidence provenance through the six Operational v2.0 modules. Because no module transform is calibrated, the pilot reports an explicit evidence position for each module rather than a score, and never fills a gap with an average or a hidden default.
Assessment tiers
- Tier 1 — Screening Assessment
National spatial datasets only. No stand inventory, no field visit.
Site Capability and indicative Windthrow Risk and Environmental Sensitivity. Stand Transformation Readiness cannot be scored from spatial data alone and is returned as evidence-insufficient.
- Tier 2 — Professional Assessment
Spatial data plus forest inventory and management history supplied by the manager.
All six modules may be scored where inputs exist, with confidence limited by the modelled/reported nature of the inputs.
- Tier 3 — Verified Assessment
Field inspection, measured inventory and professional verification with recorded verifier identity.
All modules, full decision profile, intervention intensity and monitoring plan.

- Site Capability
Whether the physical site can support a continuous-cover structure at all: terrain, soil, moisture and productivity.
- Stand Transformation Readiness
Whether the existing crop can be manipulated safely towards an irregular structure: stability, structure, regeneration potential and health.
- Dynamic Windthrow Risk
Wind risk evaluated dynamically against intervention scenarios rather than as a static site score.
- Climate Resilience
Whether the site and species remain viable across baseline, 2030s, 2050s and 2080s horizons.
- Operational and Financial Feasibility
Whether repeated small-scale interventions are physically and economically deliverable on this holding.
- Environmental and Regulatory Sensitivity
Legal, designation, water, peat, heritage and landscape constraints, and the consenting burden they create.
